FYFO’s round up of the best shoes from the SS16 catwalks

Posted By: FYFO on 05 October 2015

Fashion month may be coming to a close but we’re not done yet! Take a look at our top SS16 styles from New York, London, Milan and Paris and discover what trends will be hitting the shops next summer!

New York

Calvin Klein

Slip-on sneakers paired with gold anklets took Calvin Klein back to its minimal, sportswear heritage. However, small creative elements such as frayed satin edges made this collection far from ordinary.

It looks like laser cut footwear is here to stay for spring 16!  Marchesa unveiled their first luxury footwear collection with an array of intricate laser cut heeled sandals showing their footwear can be just as beautiful as their apparel.

Michael Kors

Michael Kors gives you three trends in one sandal for Spring/Summer 16. The platform sandal trend has been interpreted by many designers, with Kors adding texture in the form of blue and grey python print and a crossover strap with buckle for wearability.

Cut out boots and belt bags adorned the Burberry SS16 show and were a hit with the fashion critics. Reflecting the classic trench coat buckle Burberry is synonymous for, the adaptation of a small officer’s shoulder bag from the Burberry archive is fashioned in a smooth English suede and House check cotton, woven at the Burberry mill in Yorkshire.

Jonathan Saunders

Barely-there Perspex and strappy sandals worked perfectly with the acid brights at Jonathan Saunders. These are definitely a SS16 staple!

Holly Fulton and Christian Louboutin

SS16 bought about Fulton’s second collaboration with Christian Louboutin with her repeat prints applied on to Bella Tinge wedged sandals. The collection had a 60’s edge, with neon geometric prints and detailed embroidery, giving a new twist to the platform sandal that’s fast becoming SS16 must-have shoe!

Gianvito Rossi

Gianvito Rossi gave us a Navajo theme for SS16, with monochrome stiletto sandals with fine white and black strips of napa suggestive of Native American feathers. Finished with lace up ankle detailing this stand-out shoe is elegant yet evocative.

Jimmy Choo

If you’re looking for a statement summer sandal, Jimmy Choo is the answer! Creative director Sandra Choi took inspiration from California and the sunny landscapes of Los Angeles, with the architecture of Frank Gehry and Richard Meier influencing her sculpted shapes. The novel "banana heel" was applied to much of the range, including these bright metallic, strappy sandals expressing the fun, futuristic, and architectural gestalt Choi sought for next season.

Combining the cut-out trend with one of SS16’s hottest colours, designers Carol Lim and Humberto Leon bring Kenzo’s signature manipulation of shape to footwear. These over the knee patent white sandals are certainly eye catching summer shoes!

Vivienne Westwood

The gold of the affluent 12th century Venice featured throughout Vivienne Westwood’s SS16 collection. Like many other designers during fashion month, the platform sandal featured in the footwear line up, this time in a multi-strap deep gold version.

Elie Saab

Feminine elegance is what Elie Saab is known and loved for and the SS16 collection didn’t stray from the designers roots. With layers of flowing lace paired with laser cut lace up sandals and flat gladiators Saab created a relaxed, graceful vibe.

Irregular Choice – September’s Brand of the Month!

Posted By: FYFO on 09 September 2015

Individual and unique! Irregular Choice isn’t your typical footwear brand. Standing out from the crowd is part of this brand’s ethos; with an abundance of character in every shoe, we can guarantee they will become your favourite item in your wardrobe!

Founded by Dan Sullivan in 1999, Irregular Choice was created through Dan’s desire to give shoe lovers something different and distinct, something they could wear with pride. Born in London during the 70’s Dan was influenced by not only by the Punk era he grew up in, but also by working with Katherine Hamnett and Everlast. At the young age of 18 he opened his first shoe shop in Covent Garden before closing it at aged 23 to travel the world. Spending most of his time travelling in the Far East in countries such as Japan, Dan expanded his knowledge of the design and production process of footwear and allowed his vision of uniqueness and originality to grow. This philosophy has been the core of Irregular Choice for over 13 years, they refuse to conform to fashion trends or what’s popular in the industry, instead creating designs that are true to the foundations the company was built upon. With everything from character heels to ornate wood carvings and extravagant fabrics and prints, the shoes themselves almost become works of art.

The expansion of Irregular Choice has been vast, now sold through hundreds of stockists around the world, and in five stores of its own, it is fair to say Irregular Choice have built a strong following of customers searching for that special shoe they cannot find anywhere else.

FYFO took to the streets of Norwich to investigate the public’s opinion on Irregular Choice shoes. For reactions to some of the Irregular Choice styles we sell on FYFO check out our video below!

Make sure you keep at look out for our exclusive Irregular Choice competition launching on our Facebook page on Wednesday 16th September. You could be in with a chance of winning 2 pairs of these beautiful shoes!

The Must-Have Midi Boot for AW15

Posted By: FYFO on 02 September 2015

This season it’s all about the midi-boot! More commonly known as the mid-calf boot, to be classified as this, the boot has to reach between 8-14 inches from the base of your foot (depending on the height and inseam of the leg). Available in a range of styles, heel heights and colours, the midi-boot works particularly well with the standout fashion trend for AW15, 70’s boho. This versatile style is perfect for pairing with skinny jeans and baggy jumper for a relaxed, casual look or with a winter dress and tights to create that statement evening outfit.

We have taken some of our favourite midi-boots from the Autumn/Winter 15 catwalks and shown you how you can recreate the look for a fraction of the cost! All our alternatives to the catwalk styles are available to shop on FYFO.

Purple Passion

Purple is set to be one of the hottest colours for AW15, however this season this hue has taken a darker, more intense shade that fits perfectly with the autumnal weather. Fly London have replicated Laurence Dacade’s Rick Quilted Nubuck boots at £695 for almost 1/6th of the price at £114.99! You can shop the Mes boot here.

Block Heels

The block heel trend carries through into Autumn/Winter but is now incorporated into the midi-boot. The statement making block heel was found all over the AW15 catwalks; Calvin Klein’s python stacked heel boot at $2,995 is one of our favourites. However, if you’re not looking to break the bank for some designer boots, Tamaris provide you with the same look for only £74.99! Shop the Tamaris 1-25572-23 mid-calf boots here.

Sandy Suede

The fabric that will send you into a frenzy this Autumn/Winter is most definitely suede! Black maybe a classic colour, but this season it’s all about those sandy tones. Burberry has incorporated this material into the must-have midi style with their Lyndhurst boots at £539.74. Almost identical to Burberry’s creation is the Coolway Nectar boots at only £49.99. Don’t miss out on this designer look for a bargain price! You can shop it on FYFO here.

Quilted Perfection

Add a bit of texture to your midi-boot by choosing a quilted style such as Aquatalia’s Bonnie boots at £471.85. Tamaris have taken this trend and created the 1-25596-23 mid-calf boots for only £55.66, and they are certainly competition to Aquatalia’s design! Shop this style on FYFO here.

Stylish studs

Want to create that cool, paired down grungy look? Then some studded midi boots are the answer! Mix some studs with straps and buckles and you’ll master that casual, biker vibe! Laurence Decade shows us how it’s done with the Baltazar boots at $1,490, but for only £33.99 Fabulous have recreated this catwalk look with the 431400802 mid-calf boots.
